Robert Rasmussen Obituary

Robert C. Rasmussen

1939 ~ 2025

Robert "Bob" C. Rasmussen, born on May 28, 1939, in Salt Lake City, Utah, peacefully passed away at the age of 85 on May 23, 2025, in the same city that he cherished throughout his life. His passing was due to complications from pneumonia related to dementia.

Bob, along with his late brother, Richard "Dick" Rasmussen and family, together built Rasmussen Equipment Company. Bob led a very distinguished career, he served as an officer and as president of Rasmussen Equipment Company, where his leadership and dedication left a lasting impact on colleagues and industry peers. An accomplished businessman, he served as an officer of the Associated Equipment Association and was a respected member of the Board of Directors of the Better Business Bureau. A man of diverse interests, Bob was also an Honorary Police Officer in West Valley.

An alumnus of East High School, Bob furthered his education at the University of Utah, obtaining a degree in Business. During his university years, he was a proud member of the Phi Kappa Alpha fraternity, building friendships that would last a lifetime.

Bob's love for the outdoors was evident in countless hunting, boating, and fishing trips shared with family and friends. He cherished good times on the golf course and around the card table, regularly enjoying the camaraderie inherent in these pursuits at the Cottonwood Country Club, where he was on the board, and as a long-standing member of Hidden Valley.

Throughout his life, Bob believed in giving back to his community, supporting numerous charities with a particular focus on causes close to his heart.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved son, Steven Robert Rasmussen, his former wife, Judy Stevens, his parents, Frank and Dorothy Rasmussen, and his sister, Susan Rasmussen. He leaves behind a loving family who will carry on his legacy: his daughter Kimberly Rasmussen, his son Michael Rasmussen, daughters-in-law Kristine Rasmussen and Lisa Bennion Rasmussen, and his cherished grandchildren Blake, Casey, and Kyle.

A private gathering of family and friends will be held to celebrate Bob's life, with the time and place to be determined. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Bob's memory are encouraged to make donations to the Autism Council of Utah.

Bob will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his contributions to his community, and the countless good times shared with friends. His presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

Bob was a very good leader and boss. He always had a smile and treated me very good. It was an honor to work for him and Rasmussen Equipment.

Bob hired me in 1973 as a clerk with Rasmussen Equipment. I worked my way up to rental
manager in 1982 before semi retiring in 1998.
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family, I knew both Steve and Mike well, and hope the whole family has nothing but good memories of Bob.

Bob Rasmussen was the best boss anyone could ever have. I worked for Rasmussen Equipment for thirty six years and it was like a family. Bob guided the company through some pretty hard economic times back in 2008. His hard work and business knowledge brought the company through it and saved our jobs. During the Pandemic Bob, his son Steve, and his loyal and efficient managers were able to keep Rasmussen Equipment running smoothly. Bob cared about his workers and I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to work with him.
