Dear Holts,
My condolences on the passing of your wonderful Dad, Grandpa, & Great Grandpa. How wonderful was his life, how many he has touched with his service. I will always remember how he would shake hands and simultaneously pull you into him for a hug. Then he would look you in the eyes and ask how you were doing. It was impossible to not say "great" because that is how he made you feel.

Doug, Mary Ann and Martha, and the rest of the family, I know what a great example and influence both your father/grandfather and your mother-in-law Ruth/grandmother were in your lives. I know you will miss them for awhile until we are reunited in the realms of joy.

Dear Holt Family, our thoughts are with you all at this time. I don't think I ever walked in to the 7th Ward building that Bishop Holt didn't grab my hand with a warm handshake and pull me in close to hear how I was doing. Roland Holt (and LaFawn) were icons in our lives. Their physical and spiritual stature were unique! I have always compared every scoutmaster in the many wards we've lived in to Roland Holt. What a giant of a soul. I loved him dearly.

Our Scoutmaster's voice would ring down from the mountain " Boy this is really Livin !" Rolland had taken us young scouts on a hike to the top of Bald mountain while we were staying at Camp Steiner. It was a tuff climb and Roly would be there every step of the way saying " You'll get your second wind" " It's just around the corner" " Don't let your body tell your mind what to do "
These were just a few of my Scoutmaster's many sayings. Rolland was the best example of leadership a young Scout could have. My love of the outdoors and of scouting traces back to this Giant of a man. Many of my life goals were decided while under his leadership.
Thank You for sharing your life with the rest of us. I look forward to meeting up with you and hiking a mountain once again. " A life well lived !"
Sincerely,
Steve & Linda Duckworth

I just wanted to thank those who have sent notes of sympathy. He was about the best grandpa you could ask for. I have lived in Utah all my life and he and Fawnie were always so supportive in coming to school and church events for our family. I loved attending Skyline High and Wasatch Junior nearby their home in East Millcreek. And, how even though he has been out of the state for much of the last 3 or 4 years he still kept in touch. I take solace in knowing he had a grand reunion with his parents and great wife La Fawn. And also meeting my sister again who passed away tragically in 1992. Love you, Grandpa Rolly. I will forever cherish the memories I have of following our great Troop 304 Scoutmaster, Roland Holt. I can still hear in my mind our troop song and visualize our large troop marching along singing as we go. Roland left an indelible imprint for good on my life, and lives of many others. Thank you for sharing your father with so many of us. Bob Neel
