Roland Webb Obituary

Roland Webb
"A Man of Integrity"

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Roland Worth Webb, age
87, returned to our Heavenly Father early Friday morning, August 3, 2007 in
Bountiful, Utah. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his family.
Roland lived a simple, wonderful life. He was born in Rockland, Idaho September
29, 1920 and grew up in Wyoming herding sheep. He served his country honorably
in World War II and came home to marry his sweetheart, Bessie Pulham. He was a
good and decent man. As the patriarch of a large and loving family, Roland
exemplified the virtues he espoused and instilled in his children.
The most important, most precious thing in Roland's life was his family. He
loved holidays, boating in Lake Powell, and St. George getaways, any excuse to
gather as a family and spend time together. He made Christmases a magical
time, establishing traditions that his children and grandchildren carry on
today. He loved to go fishing in Alaska with his boys, to sit back with a good
Louis L'Amour book and let them haul up the big halibut, and will always be
remembered as the Patriarch of the Prevaricators, a unique fishing club.
He loved to travel and explore the world with his sweet companion of 61 years,
Bessie. Together they served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints in Cape Town, South Africa, one of their happiest memories.
They established traditions of love, service, and instilled in his children
the importance of gathering.
As founder and president of Galaxy Outdoor Advertising, Roland was a hard
working provider. All who knew him admired his integrity and knew he was a man
of his word. Even more so, he had a delightful sense of humor, one of his most
endearing qualities.
Roland is survived by his 10 children, Pamela (John) Cook, Dennis (Martsie)
Webb, Janine (Dan) Neville, Curtis J. (Cynthia) Webb, Ruth (Nathan) Cheney; 24
grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Joint funeral services will be held for Roland and Bessie 10 a.m. Thursday,
August 9, 2007 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Dr. A viewing will
be held Wednesday night from 6-8 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial.
The Webb family would like to thank those kind and patient workers and health
care providers who have assisted Bessie and Roland during their illness,
particularly Sarah, Maria, Trevor, and Tammy. Special thanks is given to Suzy
Putz, a ministering angel, who spent countless hours rendering service in the
same manner Bessie once did.
Love would not separate them, even in death.

Family of Roland & Bessie,
What a wonderful heritage you all have. Roland indeed lived a simple, wonderful life faithfully doing his duty in church callings and going to his office working daily up to a couple of years ago. He was always prepared and never missed his home teaching assignments as I was privileged to be his companion in North Salt Lake. He did his calling faithfully in the High Priest Group Leadership even with the challenges of age. Bessie was indeed an Elect Lady. She cared for her neighbors and was always willing to help where needed. She volunteered to help us with the wedding reception of our last daughter working tirelessly. They were great neighbors and friends. We are so very glad we got to spend some time with them just after receiving our mission call to St. George when they were staying in there home here for a while. I can just see Roland greeting all his relatives and friends in the spirit world and then saying “I want Bessie to be here with me, I miss her already” and she came. How much better our lives are to know and love them both. What a great blessing for them to be together as they always were in life. May our Father in Heaven bless and comfort all of you at this time.

Even though I did not know Brother and Sister Webb their story is far reaching. Their service and dedication to their church and their family and to our Savior was amazing. Even in death they have found life again together in heaven. May their story continue to touch others for years to come. Thank you Brother and Sister Webb for being such an example to all of us.
