Ruby Trayner Haslam

Ruby Trayner Haslam 1922 ~ 2006 Ruby Trayner Haslam passed away peacefully on January 5, 2006 in Salt Lake City surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 30, 1922 in Salt Lake City to Herbert O. Trayner Sr. and Ruby Larsen. She had three brothers who survive her: Herbert O. Trayner Jr., James L. Trayner, Dennis M. Trayner. She spent her childhood in Salt Lake, graduating from South High School with the class of 1940. She married her eternal companion Ronald Howard Haslam on January 17, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. To this union were born seven children. Survivors include Maureen H. Booth (Craig), Ronda H. Bennett (Gregory), Marsha H. Killpack (Charles), Bryan (Pat), Kent (Michelle), Preston (Tracy). Also survived by 25 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Ruby was an accomplished swimmer in her youth, painter, avid genealogist, and served in many capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as an active member including presidencies in the Relief Society, Primary, and Stake Relief Society. Ron and Ruby served two missions, one to Florida Tallahassee and one to Louisiana Baton Rouge. She sewed dresses for her daughters when they were small, decorated many a birthday cake for her grandchildren, and hosted fabulous family parties in her backyard. She was a member of two literary clubs: Alice Louise Reynolds Club in St. George and Agalia Mu in Salt Lake City. She was a hostess at the Church Office Building for several years. She lived in St. George for 15 years, leaving many friends in that community. She and Ron would have celebrated 64 wonderful years on January 17th. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Claudia H. Summers, her son-in-law Stephen O. Summers, grandson Todd Bennett, and great-granddaughter Virginia Marie Booth. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 9, 2006 at 12 Noon at the Murray 8th Ward, 4600 S. 160 E. Friends and family may pay their respects on Sunday evening at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E.
