Sadie Velarde Obituary
West Jordan, Utah-Our beloved mother and grandmother passed away on November 10, 2017. Born January 28, 1927 to Joseph Paul Trujillo and Adelina Valdez Trujillo.
Sadie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was born in Durango Colorado and raised in New Mexico. As a young adult, she moved to Utah where she met and married Nicanor Velarde. They moved to New Mexico for a few years and later moved to Utah to raise their family in West Jordan. Sadie loved having fun and had an infectious sense of humor - even in her final hours. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and traveling. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family.
Survived by Son, Mike (Carolyn); daughters, Carla (Jack), Angie, Peggy (Glen), Naomi, Josie, Linda and Bobbie (Dennis); daughter-in-law Connie; son-in-law Tony; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother Sal; sisters Billie and Betty.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband Nicanor Velarde; sons, Nick Jr., Paul and Richard; daughter, Judy and grandson, Brandon.
Funeral Mass Friday, November 17, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 7405 S. Redwood Rd., West Jordan. Vigil service Thursday November 16, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church. Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.

Mrs. Velarde is an wonderful woman. It has been a joy for our family to be her neighbors for the last 20 years. Mrs. Velarde will be missed by our family.
Mrs. Velarde was alway so kind to greet us and our children as we crossed paths over the years. When our children were young they always wanted to make her house our first stop because they always received a handful of candy and a compliment on their costumes.
We have learned from Mrs.Velardes example what it means to love family. We have admired how she often gathers her family together. I am thankful for her example of family and what it means to look after each other.
To her family we pray you will feel comforted as you mourn the passing of this amazing daughter of Heavenly Father. We certainly mourn with you and will cherish her kind words to us for years to come.
May you have peace in knowing she has returned home to be in the presence of God and those family members who have passed on before her who she undoubtedly loves.
God be with each of you until you meet with her again.

While I only "borrowed" you as my Gram for three years, your kindness and warmth with stay with me forever. Thank you for making me so welcome in the Velarde family, and acccepting me as one of your own. Fly with your Angels Judy, Nick, Paul, Brandon, and your beloved Nicanor. LO siento words do not truly convey the sense of the depths of pain, when we have to let go.
This is when our faith comes in to comfort us. I know Sadie was filled with faith and love.
Sadie taught us that even after life hardships how important it is to keep going and find joy and happiness in the moment.
I am sorry I will not be in Utah to attend her funeral but send my sympathy to all her family and friends.
