Scott Anderson Obituary

Scott Anderson

1958 ~ 2022

Salt Lake City, Utah-Eldon Scott Anderson passed away on December 3, 2022, following many years of privately and bravely facing a terminal illness. He will be greatly missed.

Scott was a brilliant, funny, generous, compassionate, humble, selfless, and gentle man. He had a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor, relishing a hearty laugh and delighting in a great prank. He had a gift for making friends wherever he went. He was a thoughtful and responsible man of conviction with an unwavering belief in leading by example. He personified and taught the values of education, working hard, serving others, and, above all, honor and integrity.

Scott was born on August 13, 1958, to Walker Eldon and Joan Cutler Anderson in Hartsville, South Carolina. He married his college sweetheart, Leslie Mackintosh, on June 10, 1980. Their children and grandchildren were his pride and joy and had his full support with any "productive" interest they could dream up. He was a doting son, husband, father, and grandfather, and the names he cherished most were Dad and Grandpa.

Scott graduated from Olympus High School and the University of Utah. He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy and was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal. After resigning from active duty, he remained in the Reserves for another decade through the Gulf War. Upon earning his Master's Degree, he was named the Master of Business Administration Outstanding Scholar by the University of Utah. As a successful businessman, he had a keen intellect, abundant talents, and an affinity for technology, helping to pioneer technologies used all over the world.

Despite his demanding career, Scott refused to miss ballgames with his son, hikes with his daughter, and impromptu dance parties with his grandchildren. He loved rock-and-roll concerts, studying and sharing history, bike rides with friends, and vacations with family. He traveled the world and set foot on six of the seven continents.

Scott is survived by his mother; wife; children, Michael (Sarah) Anderson and Leigh Anderson; grandchildren, Chloe and Walker; brothers, Canyon (Jan), Kevin (Kellie), and Mark (Kathy); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Troy. His family would like to thank his caregivers at The Ridge on Foothill.

A reception in celebration of Scott's life will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. in the Orangerie at Red Butte Garden (300 Wakara Way, Salt Lake City).

We were next-door neighbors long ago in SLC; I have many fond memories of Scott and his brothers when we were kids. It seems we were usually knee-deep in some kind of mischief; it was a sad day for me when the Andersons moved away. Please accept my sincere condolences. Jim Baker.
