Stephanie Hopkins Obituary

Stephanie Ann Hopkins

Love like Steph!

Holladay, UT—Stephanie Ann Hopkins, a bright shining light in our lives tragically died in the Wilson Glade Avalanche February 6, 2021. Steph was born November 4, 1994 in Indianapolis, Indiana and was raised in Holladay, Utah. She graduated from Olympus High School in 2013. She graduated from the University of Utah Honors College and Nursing School in 2017 and 2019 with a BA in International Studies/Global Health and BSN in nursing. She completed the prestigious Critical Care Internship at the University of Utah and worked as a critical care nurse in the neurologic critical care unit at University Hospital. She hoped to attend Duke University's Family Nurse Practitioner Program because of its emphasis on international/global health.

Steph loved without boundaries. She cared deeply about people and was committed to her relationships with family, friends, patients and anyone she met. Her smile and simple love led many to consider her their "best friend". She was a caring nurse who was intensely loyal to and advocated for her patients. This last year critical care nursing was very hard on Steph, but even as she struggled with the clinical stresses and psychological burdens of 2020, she uplifted her fellow nurses, doctors and other health care professionals and staff.

Steph was most alive in the outdoors. She loved skiing, climbing, hiking, watching the sunset and stars and any activity with family and friends. Lake Powell was her favorite place on earth but she loved travelling the world and was always eager to experience beautiful cultures and landscapes. She was a foodie and will be remembered for her gastronomic adventures in cooking, charcuterie boards, cheese, gelato and frozen custard. She was bookish and always had a recommendation if you asked.

Steph was preceded in death by her grandmother BethAnn Hopkins and her aunt Jennifer Davidson. She is survived by her parents, Katy and Scott and her four siblings: Nathan (23), Adeline (20), Alex (17) and Andrew (12). She was adored by her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and her dear friends who have become family.

A funeral service will be held Monday February 15 at noon. Because of COVID-19, it will be by invitation only but will be broadcast by Zoom at the links below. A viewing will be held Sunday February 14 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary 3401 Highland Drive from 6-8 pm. Please remember to mask, distance and protect all the family and friends who will attend.

Love like Steph. Hug and kiss your loved ones in remembrance of Stephanie.
