Steven Parton Obituary

Steven Craig

Parton

June 10, 1947 ~ May 20, 2022

It is with great sorrow that our family announces the passing of our loving husband, father, and friend, STEVEN CRAIG PARTON.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Steven passed away peacefully on May 20, 2022, ending a mercifully short battle with cancer.

Steven was born on June 10, 1947, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and grew up in Utah, California, and Japan.

As a young man, Steven served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, and worked at the Tooele Army Depot (TEAD), in Tooele, Utah. He later became the proud owner of Penguin Auto Wrecking for over 40 years.

Steven met his "forever" wife, Debra Lee Prentice, and they married on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1996. Steven later adopted Debra's two sons, Eric & Adam.

Steven loved spending time hunting with his brother, Joe. He was President of the Bass Club and loved to fish the tournaments with his friends. He also loved just boating on Lake Powell, looking for the next best fishing spot.

Steven and Debra retired to Lynden, Washington in 2015, and spent their retirement years traveling between the U.S. and Canada together. He was so proud of his "big red retirement truck", and strangers would often tell him how beautiful it was.

He loved family get-togethers with his kids and watching his grandkids grow up.

He liked to reminisce about the good old days by watching junkyard shows and Bass tournament shows where he would point out people that he had met.

Steven was a kind and gentle soul with an inviting smile, and who was generous to a fault. He had many friends, and he will be forever loved and missed.

Steven was predeceased by his parents, Joseph C. Parton and Arline M. Nielsen Parton, his brother, Clifford J. Parton, and his daughter, Jackqulyn I. Parton Hathaway.

Steven is survived by his wife, Debra Lee Prentice Parton; his son and daughter-in-law, Eric M. and Molly K. Prentice, and their children, Julia M. Prentice and Robert S. Prentice; his son and daughter-in-law, Adam G. and Marilyn J. Prentice, and their children, Megan E. Prentice and Ryan A. Prentice; and his daughter, Jody A. Parton Siddiqui, and her child, Joseph M. Parton-Siddiqui. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph C. (Patricia) Parton II, and his sister, Julie A. Parton (John) Service.

As Steven requested, no services will take place, and his ashes will be scattered on Penguin Ridge.

Hey there Steve. I knew you liked going on trips but not alone. And I keep thinking you'll be home soon. I miss the sound of your walk down the hall, your funny look like what's going on. Debbie and I would wait with anticipation, waiting for you to come around the corner. It was like ground hogs day, over and over and loved every minute
I miss and Love you so very much.
P.S. As much as I dislike Fireworks you brought special meaning to me when I hear them now.

Well, it´s been a year today since you left, and it still seems like yesterday. I know now that things will never again be quite right.
I still talk to you every day at home, like nothing has changed. And, every time I must drive past the place we last spoke, I want to pull in and come see you again.
I´m so grateful that we had our last trip together. I can still see you everywhere we visited.
Thank you for everything you did for me and our family. I´ve still got your back. Love, Deb

I will miss Steve; he always made me laugh with that dry sense of humor. Last year I went on vacation with them and stayed in their home. It was always filled with laughter and love.
A story that sticks out in my mind was the night of the 4th of July. Debbie and I went to bed about 11:00 and Steve stayed up to watch TV, like he always did, watching cars go around and around on a track. I was having a hard time sleeping with the firecrackers going off sporadically for over an hour. I finally went into Debbie's room and we went to investigate. Instead of fireworks, we found Steve, sitting in his recliner, watching TV and popping bubble wrap!! He had a neat little pile of flat bubble wrap on the end table. Lol
With both of us looking down at him, and with his "deer caught in the headlight" look, he slowly sat his bubble wrap down, and we just started laughing.
This year I have saved tons of bubble wrap and was gonna send it to him for his birthday. Sadly, he won't get it, but I will always keep that bubble wrap to remind me of him.
If you're asking why Steve always popped bubble wrap, it was because he was a stickler about filling up the trash can because, every time it was picked up, it cost him $6!! Such a frugal guy he was, except he wasn't frugal about helping and giving to others.
My heart hurts, but I'm so blessed to have had him in my life. Love ya, Steve.
From Your Beautiful Sister (lol), Terry

I have known Steve sense he was 18, I was 27. We worked at the depot together. He taught me my first job there. We carpooled together along with Charlie King back and forth to Tooele. Later on he went into the National Guard and spent the time necessary to complete basic. When he came back to work, I had advanced and was now his boss. He never quite got over that. As time went on we became friends and spent a great deal of time together. We hunted together, fished together and spent many hours 4 wheeling and hanging out. Steve became more than just a friend, he was more like w brother. The last few years we have not stayed in touch, but the memories of our times together our always on my mind and in my heart. I should have told you when I could have, l love you and will always cherish the memories we made together.

Steve and I go back to the Glenn W Turner days. haha The Koscot Inc and Dare to be Great days, 1970/1971. Damn, what a ride that was. Years later after my days with GWT I went my way and Steve his and somehow we came together again. He had the wrecking yard and I had my own tax and accounting business and he became a client. My visit to WA to see Steve we laughed about our first meeting at the wrecking yard. I met with him in his office which was a shell of some sort from a trailer or whatever and the heat for this shack was a 50 gallon barrel that he would burn wood, etc. in to keep the office warm. It was winter. My last visit with Steve we had a good laugh about those days. Steve built what was Hugos wrecking yard into the Penguin Auto Wrecking and made it very successful. We talked about the next visit and we were going to hit some casino he wanted to too and go into Canada. I couldn't find my passport and Coronavirus came into the picture and the visit didn't happen. Well Coronavirus is reasonably behind us now, I got a new passport this year but Steve is gone. DAMMIT!
RIP my friend, RIP.

The hardest part wasn't losing you, it was learning to live without you. I will miss you forever.
