Susan Robbins Obituary

Susan (Suzy) Melody Kindlespire Robbins

1952 - 2021

Susan (Suzy) Melody Kindlespire Robbins of Draper Utah passed away December 8, 2021 due to complications related to a brain tumor. She was born April 20, 1952 in Brigham City, Utah to Sylvia (Sally) Ann Wright and Howard Thomas Kindlespire Jr. She grew up on a farm near Spencer, Iowa. She worked as a carhop and detasseling corn to save money for college. She graduated from Spencer High School, attended Rick's College in Rexburg Idaho; and obtained her Bachelor's degree in Spanish from Brigham Young University. Later, she taught English as a second language and worked as an English teacher in Driggs, Idaho then Roosevelt, Utah. She then attended Northern Arizona University, where she graduated with a Master's in counseling.

Prior to graduating from BYU she went to Mexico to teach nutrition, and gained a love of Latin people and culture. She loved creatively teaching and mentoring adult students new to the United States and helping them acclimate to life here. She also enjoyed teaching English to professional baseball players.

She married Enrique Rodriguez in 1977, and they lived in Long Branch, New Jersey, and Mesa Arizona. Her children describe her as a very attentive, loving, selfless and caring mother. In 2003, she married Ron Robbins. They loved to travel, have been to all seven continents, including Antarctica, and particularly enjoyed going to Spanish speaking countries. Ron never did know all the swear words in Spanish, but Suzy always did.

Many commented, when they first met Suzy they were captivated by her sparkling eyes, beautiful smile, genuine sincerity, compassion, and cheery disposition.

She had a passion for painting, and as an artist she thoroughly enjoyed visiting the art museums around the world. Her favorite artist was Botticelli. She also wrote articles for various magazines and gave seminars to women on self-esteem in both English and Spanish. She was always reading nonfiction, and constantly learning about bettering herself. Shopping was a delightful hobby, especially with friends.

As a faithful member of her church she taught a Marriage, Family Relations, and Parenting class for years. She recently completed her labor of love: Kindlespire Family History. It is a 130-page history of six generations of the Kindlespire Family. Over the last several years she was immersed in genealogy and finding family names, researching stories, and loved connecting families.

Suzy is survived by her husband Ron, children David (Ludi), Daniel, Brian, Amy, Ryan and grandchildren Ian, Madeleine, Aubrie, and Dallin. Her siblings include Kim (Kaye) Kindlespire, Linda (Jeff) Sorensen, Nancy (Gary) Stephens, Judy (Curtis) Heinrichs, and Mitch Kindlespire. She is preceded in death by her beloved Buster, the Chihuahua.

Thanks to all the caring friends, family, and neighbors who have been so supportive during this difficult time. Suzy was a special person who was so well loved. She loved everyone around her, everyone was a friend to be made.

There never was a more caring and loving friend as Suzy. We met over 45 years ago at the Eatontown, NJ Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We became fast friends and often got together with our young boys that were of similar ages. We reconnected years later after she moved away and I delighted in the funny cartoons and videos she would email to me on a regular basis. She had a thoughtful and understanding nature and would often share some advise or send a gift when times were difficult. I was always impressed by her artistic talents, her knowledge of the workings of the human mind and heart, and her deep spiritual convictions. I loved talking with her and looked forward to the rare days that we could visit with each other. I was blessed to have her sweet friendship and am saddened at the loss of someone so very dear to me.
Angelo and I extend our deepest sympathy to her family and know that she will be missed by many.
