Our loving wife, mother, and grandmother Terri Coates, 55, of Salt Lake City, Utah passed away July 17, 2014 in Tooele, Utah.
She was born January 22, 1959 in Gardiner, Montana to Richard Riggs and Gloria Johnson. Terri's life revolved around her grandchildren and nieces who all lovingly referred to her as 'Ga', she would always affectionately welcome the children into her home with warm hugs and cookies.
Outwardly, she was a very kind, caring and traditional woman, but she also had a very sly sense of humor that you knew could always manifest itself at any time. Along with her sharp wit, she was also an engaging story-teller and was always able to immerse others in her narratives. Above all, Terri was a selfless and compassionate friend, a devoted wife, a benevolent parent, and a doting grandmother. Her maternal warmth was truly perceived by all who knew Terri.
She is survived by her children, Summer Butler, Adam (Frankie) Krogh, Mike Coates, Kayla (Andrew) King and Jason(Lauren) Coates.
Terri was adored by her five grandchildren. Terri is also survived by her sisters Tracy Johnson, Leslie Johnson and brothers Mike (Connie) Johnson, Bill Johnson, and Gene (Tenisa) Quilter.
She was preceded in death by her dear husband Russell Eugene "Gus" Coates in 2008.
A Memorial service will be held at the Spruces Campground Group Site #3 in Big Cottonwood Canyon on August 2nd. Family and Friends are invited to join us in remembering her life from 1:00pm to 5:00pm.
