Todd Wagstaff Obituary

Todd Brig Wagstaff 1959 ~ 2003  Todd Brig Wagstaff, cherished husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on December 7, 2003. He lived his life valiantly and taught us about patience and humility through his experience with cancer. Todd was born March 3, 1959 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Verl D. ("Brig") Wagstaff and Iola Avery Wagstaff. He graduated from Skyline High School in 1977. He married his high school sweetheart, Susan Beesley, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 25, 1977. Todd's family was the center of his life. He was the happiest when everyone was together at home. He was a hero to his sons and everything to Susan. He treasured his grandchildren and they loved their "Papa". He was an extraordinary example of kindness, compassion and love. His wry grin and sense of humor made everyone feel "like a million bucks". He was a man of his word and lived what he believed. He worked for 27 years as an excavator with his father and sons. He had a strong work ethic that he passed on to his boys. His skills and personable nature made him a favorite among people he worked with. He was always hopeful and had a strong faith. He was an active member of the LDS Church and he enjoyed serving in many capacities, but his favorite callings were with the youth. He was the "eternal" basketball coach. He shared his testimony often and was a powerful inspiration to others. Todd is survived by his best friend and wife of 26 years, Susan; five sons, Dustin (Kristen), Carson (Amanda), Jordan, Griffen and Bronson; grandchildren, Carter and Whitney; parents, Brig (Gale) Wagstaff and Iola Wagstaff; sisters, Devie (Richard) Mills and Melanie Wagstaff; brother, Paul Wagstaff. Todd will be missed by all who knew and loved. him. The family wishes to thank all the wonderful doctors, nurses, healthcare providers and ward family and friends who showed love and support and shared our hope. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 12, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Olympus 3rd Ward Chapel, 4100 Camille Drive. Friends and family may visit Thursday evening December 11, at Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Drive, from 6-8 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to the services, at the Ward. Interment will be at Holladay Memorial Park.

Susan,

I am so sorry to hear about Todd. Dr Price just found out and informed Layna and I. We are very saddened about the loss of someone as noble as Todd. We as nurses learned so much from both of you, and the unconditional love that you shared with each other and with us. We were all truely touched by your strength with such a very emotional and difficult challenge in your life. We feel blessed to have had the opportunity to know you and Todd and be involoved in his care. Please let us know if there is anything that we can do! Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

with love,

I love you guys, you have always been a great strength and example to me of how family life should be. One thing that stands out to me the most about Todd was sitting down with him and conversating about life as if I were one of his sons, I will never forget the genuine love he showed me. I hope to have the passion for my family that he showed towards his. My prayers are with you always!!!

Wagstaff's,

I can't express enough my thanks to your family for everything you have done for me. Nor can I express my heart felt sympathy for the passing of Todd. I love all of you and pray that the Lord will be with you. You always welcomed the SShickens into your home and lives and for that I'll always be grateful. You had a perfect home in which to be during many pivotal years. Todd was always the perfect example of patience and humility. He also had a great behind-the-back lay-up. Todd was always a great example of what a husband, father, friend and man should be. He leaves behind a great legacy that I will always remember. All of our love.

It goes without saying what a great person Todd was, he always made working on the job site a blast with his quick wit, and made you feel important just by giving you a little of his time, he was always good to my family, and I know I will always remember that infectious laugh and huge grin on the job site. We'll miss you buddie, see you when we get there.

Dear Susan,

Our thoughts and prayers have been of you and Todd for some time now, the miracle we all wanted didn't come but we feel blessed and fortunate to have been a friend and to have known Todd. From the time I first met him he always seemed the kind, sweet and sometimes shy boy who loved you so much. I can picture him on your wedding day; tall and handsome, wearing a brown suit and a big grin. He will always seem about 18 years old to me, young and strong. I know that his spirit will always be close by to help you through days ahead. With our Love, Megan and Bruce

Susan:

We can't begin to tell you how very sorry we are to hear of Todd's passing. It brought back 14 years of memories when we were neighbors in Bennion. Digging fence post holes because our husband's were sick, Christmas Boutiques, you running through the field trying to catch your car and Dustin was thrilled because he was driving. In fact, I still use the lasagna recipe you gave me. We had some great times. Please know that our thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time.

Susan,

We want you to know how much we love you and Todd. It's hard for us to explain how much you have both influenced our lives for good. You both have a way of making us feel like we are your friends even though you are "Dustin's parents". We feel priveleged to have your friendship in our lives and Todd's presence here on earth will always be remembered in our home as an example of a loving husband, great father and friend.

All our love to Susan,Dustin, Kristin, Carter, Whitney and all the boys.
