Wayne Burr Obituary
1928 ~ 2014
Salina, Utah-Wayne B. Burr returned to his Heavenly Father on April 26, 2014, in Richfield, Utah. A husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, Wayne devoted his life of service to family and neighbors for 85 years.
He was born in Salina, Utah, on August 25, 1928, to Myron Beason and Olive Mickelsen Burr. After graduating from North Sevier High School, Wayne served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1948 to 1952 as part of the Seabees. After his discharge, Wayneworked in heavy construction. For 30 years, he supervised highway projects throughout Utah and surrounding states for L.A. Young Construction Co. Wayne belonged to the Operating Engineers Local Union No. 3. He also worked for the LDS Church and the Salina Utah Stake.
Wayne married Arda Lucille Johnson in the Manti Temple on April 17, 1953. They raised four children, Kent, Craig, Carolyn, and Linda. Wayne enjoyed the mountains and deserts of Central Utah, working in his yard, and riding in the Gator with his son Kent.
Wayne was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in various callings including Bishop, counselor, high council member, and home teacher.
He is survived by his wife, Arda; children, Kent Burr, Salina, and Craig (Jackie) Burr, Spanish Fork; Carolyn (Russel) Christensen, Richfield, and Linda (Merrill) Hugentobler, Moab; sisters, Verna Dean Bigler and Elaine Burr; brothers, James G. (Ann) Burr and Brent (Janece) Burr. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Myron Jack Burr.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 2, at 11:00 a.m., in the Salina 2nd ward chapel, 85 South 100 East, Salina. Friends may call for a viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 150 East Main Street in Salina, Thursday, May 1, from 6 to 8 p.m., or Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services.
Interment with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.

Craig, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your father. I lost mine in 2007, so I know what that is like. I miss my Dad everyday. I take great solace in the Apostle Paul's words in 1st Corinthians, Ch 15 verse 22. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. I know you and I will see our fathers again. After reading his obituary I can see you are very proud of your father, and a Korean veteran, as a seabee. That alone would make any son very proud.
