Wendy Mae Zoumadakis Wright

Salt Lake City, UT—Heaven grew a little brighter today and gained a sweet spirit. "God saw that you were tired and that you needed rest, so He wrapped His loving arms around you and took the very best." Wendy Mae Zoumadakis Wright returned home suddenly at age 58 on Monday, September 20th 2021.

Wendy was born on July 30, 1963 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Helen MaRee Rowe and William "Bill" Zoumadakis. She graduated from Skyline High School in 1981 and went on to study music at the University of Utah. She played the clarinet and the piano and truly lit up a room with her musical talent. Her love for music accompanied her throughout life and brought joy to all who had the pleasure of listening.

Wendy married her eternal companion Stephen Orson Wright on July 16th, 1986. They met at an LDS singles boating activity and shared a love of the outdoors and all things on the water. They raised four children together: Willam "Blake," Danielle, Nicolea, and Austin. When she wasn't telling fun stories or playing Pictionary with her family, she was seen crawling on the ground with her grandchildren and chasing them around the kitchen. Her most treasured nickname was 'Yiayia' (grandmother in Greek) and she wore it with pride.

One of Wendy's finest qualities was her desire to take care of others. She had a giant heart and was always willing to see past people's faults in order to find the good. She thrived on finding ways to make them feel welcomed. Over the years she made many strong connections with those she served and formed dear, enduring relationships.

Wendy is survived by her loving husband, Stephen Wright; her children and their spouses, William "Blake" Wright, Danielle (Zak) States, Nicolea (Daniel) Jones, and Austin Wright; her grandchildren, Milo, Parker, Crew, and Rachel; and her siblings, Kathy (Chris) Floor and Melany Zoumadakis. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews and all those who considered her as close as a family member. Wendy is reunited with her parents, William "Bill" Zoumadakis and Helen MaRee Rowe Zoumadakis, her brother George Zoumadakis, and her dear friend Tammy Clark.

There will be a viewing Monday, September 27th from 6-8 pm at 4407 S Fortuna Way, Millcreek, UT 84124. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 28th at 12 pm at 4407 S Fortuna Way, Millcreek, UT 84124. She will be laid to rest at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

I loved my time with Wendy when she was my YW leader and I also was a nanny to her beautiful children. Steve, my heart breaks for you and the children. You have all been in my heart and prayers since I learned of her passing.

Our family is so sad to hear about the loss of Wendy. She was a kind and generous person who always lit up a room with her warmth and humor. She was a good friend and I feel blessed that I had the pleasure of knowing her and the Wright family.I could always feel good about sending David to a playdate because he was at the Wright house.

Oh gosh....what to say? funny memories of my best friend throughout all of my schooling. She wore princess leia buns before princess leia did, she hated grass hoppers, (she made me walk in front of her to scare them away) her way of telling me she was sorry was to have her mom cook some rice pilaf and then call me and tell me it was ready, she made me watch the "Birds" telling me it wasn't scary (we were 8, it made me cry and then we ate Rice Pilaf because she was sorry) was my partner in crime in many, many instances and she will be missed. My Love and hopes of healing to the family

My heartfelt condolences to her family and many friends. Wendy was one of my favorite people in the world. We met at Churchill Jr High and became fast friends. She was the best friend you could have, she had a lot of love and her arms were open wide to others always. Beautiful, witty and fun, almost all my memories are of us joking and laughing. Her Dad is a fun memory too, he used to pick on us all the time when we went to her house and listened to all his albums! (I´m sure that´s because he loved us a little bit too!) I love that girl, I´m so sorry. Her love and joy will be missed always.
