Werner Larsen Obituary

Werner Alf Larsen

"Moose"

February 14th, 1927

March 6th, 2021

On Saturday, March 6th, 2021 our dad, uncle, grampa, great grampa, friend and boss finally "retired" at 94 years old. After a hard-fought battle in the ICU, he ultimately succumbed to COVID-19. Moose lived a long, full life. He spent his years with his family water skiing and boating in Flaming Gorge, fishing, golfing and bowling. He also loved dancing and was a part of the High-Steppers Club. Moose also spent a lot of time with his "work family" at Diamond Electric. Moose went into work up until he entered the hospital. He spent a lot of time with his work family and had really grown to appreciate them over the many years, especially Jill Astin. He was a kind and generous man and was always willing to help his family and friends whenever they needed it. Later in life, his favorite past times included walking his dog weekly at the park and caring for his many chickens or "his girls," as he called them.

Moose was born on February 14th, 1927 to Alfreda and Alfred Larsen in Salt Lake City, UT. He attended West High School and at the age of 17 enlisted in the Navy to fight in World War II. After serving his time in the Navy, he returned home to assist his parents in running and operating their new motor and tool repair business, Diamond Electric, out of their garage. Moose attended trade school in Chicago to become a Master Electrician and over time helped the family grow their business. Diamond Electric is still in operation today on 1465 S 300 W in Salt Lake City. In 1954 Moose married Betty Flowers and together they had three children: Brent, Kelly and Lori. They were married for thirty-seven years. In the latter part of his life, Moose spent his remaining years with his companion, Mary Isaacs and her adult children, Bobby, Kevin and Michael.

Moose was preceded in death by his parents, Alfreda and Alfred, his sister Corinne and his son, Brent and numerous friends. Moose is survived by his son Kelly (Linda #2), Lori (Rob and grandsons Nathan and Cole) and Brent's wife, Linda #1 (granddaughters, Nicole/Matt and Jenn/Travis and great grandchildren Tally, Ryan and Hunter).

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Intermountain Medical Center for the care they gave Moose. He was so appreciative of all of you.

"Over and out."

I’m so sorry to hear of his passing. He was one of my favorite customers and always enjoyed calling on him. His visits to the Essex/Brownell warehouse were always welcomed by all of us that worked there. One of the last of the real electric motor repairmen that could tell what was wrong with the equipment just by listening to it run.

I grew up on Claridge Dr next door to Werner's parents, Alf and Freda. I remember when Werner would visit his parents he generally stopped by our house for a visit.

To the family, I'm very sorry for your loss. May your loving and happy memories help you through this difficult time.
