Vera Garcia Finkel, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed peacefully on Feb. 20, 2006 with her family by her side. She was born on March 24, 1916 in Tucson, Arizona and married Philip D. Finkel in Los Angeles on July 13, 1941. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phil, 6 brothers, and 2 sisters. Vera was a devoted wife who traveled the world with her husband while he served in the military. After their retirement in San Antonio, they participated in the restaurant business for almost 30 years. Her love of family relationships was evident to everyone. Family time together was a priority. Her greenhouse was full of plants that she was always willing to share. Vera loved music and was dancing even when her legs were no longer strong enough to let her walk. She is survived by 2 brothers, Conrad and Arturo Garcia; 2 sons, Ronald Finkel, and Larry and Sandeen Finkel; and her daughter Sandra and Steve Gass; grandchildren Melody and Larry Brown, Greg Finkel and Mira Hernandez, Paul and Vannhi Finkel, Michael and Heather Finkel, Todd Finkel, Michelle and Vance Hild and Samantha and Kent Lorentz. Vera had 13 great-grandchildren. A rosary will be recited and viewing will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2006, 12 noon 2 p.m. at FuneralCaring USA. Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2006, 10 a.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
