Harvey O. Schwarz, born in San Antonio, Texas on January 23, 1928, passed away after a long courageous battle with colon cancer, on Monday October 9, 2006 at the age of 78. At the age of 18 years, he entered the United States Navy, serving on board the USS Kingman and the Brinkley Bass #887. Harvey was honored for his service with Cadillac after 48 years of employment. The unique part about his time spent with Cadillac Service was 47 years under three dealerships in the Old Goad Motor Building, where Harvey was known as "Mr. Riata" by all his customers, friends, and acquaintances. Harvey pioneered automotive air conditioning in San Antonio and had even taught other dealership personnel at Tech Vocational School for three years. Harvey said that his success and friendships with customers stemmed from customers trusting him, by being honest, and by listening to their complaints, then arriving at a fair and equitable decision. He was also a volunteer for the San Antonio Livestock Show Exposition, were he served on the Swine and Go Western Gala Committees. Harvey was also a director for Miss Rodeo Texas and was on the National Advisory Committee for Miss Rodeo America. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugo and Erna Schwarz, son, Daniel Boren and sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and R.H. Farley. Harvey is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Sue; children, Michael Schwarz and wife Sue, Karen Bratcher and husband Woody, Larry Schwarz and Joe; Donald Schwarz and wife Stacie, Ronald Schwarz and wife Sheila, Brenda Carrola and husband Joe, Steven Boren and wife Debbie, Malinda Schrader, Mary Ann Gage; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and a niece and nephew. SERVICES Visitation will be held at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South on Thursday, October 12th from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the family to receive friends beginning at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 13th at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Mission Burial Park South.
