Aaron Staats Obituary
Aaron Clyde Staats, Lieutenant Colonel, United States Air Force passed away at his home into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on November 24, 2013. He was born on February 11, 1920 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Charles and Mary Staats. After a 33-year career in the Air Force, he and his wife Geraldine settled in Kerrville in 1976, building a country home and running a business in Shaklee Nutritional Products. During their twelve years in Kerrville they were active members of First Baptist Church. In 1988, their two daughters and three granddaughters convinced them to put the Kerrville property up for sale and join them in San Antonio. Throughout their 25-year residence in San Antonio, Aaron and Geraldine were active members of Castle Hills First Baptist Church, participating in the choir and Senior Adult Sunday School Department. They also ministered with their beautiful music for many years to the residents of Regent Care Center. Through World War II, the Korean Conflict and Viet Nam, his distinguished Air Force career took the family across many of our states as well as tours of duty in Japan and England. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Bronze Star for the 135 reconnaissance missions flown over Viet Nam as a Squadron Commander/Pilot in the EC-47. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Geraldine Walker Staats, his daughters Judy Staats and Shaaron Carroll and husband Chuck; granddaughters Nancy Carroll, Jennifer Albrecht, Erin Reece and husband Luke; and four beloved great-grandchildren Madeline and Aaron Albrecht, Eleanore and Noah Reece. A man of Godly virtue, Aaron lived a rich, full life, blessing each and everyone who ever had the privilege of knowing him. He is greatly missed by his family as well as the many friends and neighbors who loved him as he blends his beautiful singing voice with the voices of the angels on high.
