Alfred Brown Obituary

BROWN
"AL" Alfred Arthur Brown Sr., age 83 of San Antonio a devoted husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully at his residence on 21 June 2014. He was born March 7, 1931 in Flint, Michigan to Winthrop Brown and Anna Willis Brown. TSgt Brown entered military service in 1948 with the Army and served in Japan during the occupation of Japan and the Korean Conflict as an infantryman, in 1954 he transferred to the Air Force and served two tours of duty in the Vietnam Conflict as a combat cameraman/aerial photographer before retiring from the US Air Force in 1973. After the military, he continued his career as a Medical Photographer working at the School of Aerospace Medicine and the Wilford Hall Medical Center retiring from Civil Service in 1996. He was a longtime member of the Nazarene Church and faithfully served as Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, and Trustee, and member of the San Antonio Thunderbird Club. He was preceded in death by his brothers; Leroy, Lloyd, and Howard; his sister Jean; and his grandson Stuart. He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Brown; sons, Alfred (Denise) and Ronald; grandchildren, Amorena (Jeremy), Andrew (Amy), Amber, Sarah (Joseph), Byron, Charlene, Zachary, and Grace; and great granddaughters Vanessa and Sophia; along with many nieces and nephews.
SERVICES
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Brookehill Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Brookehill Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park South. I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Browns passing. I worked with him at Wilford Hall in the Photography Department in the early 80's. He was my mentor and taught me so much more then just regular training did. I still use his advice in my job. He use to joke about my hair when ever I got it permed. It was a running joke in the office. I looked up to Mr. Brown. You were so very lucky to have him in your lives.
