Bettye Tolar Obituary
Bettye Carolyn Tolar
August 10, 1939 - November 2, 2025
Bettye "Carolyn" Tolar passed away at the age of 86. She lived a life rich in love, service, and learning. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Carolyn's presence brought warmth and grace to everyone she met.
Carolyn grew up in Caldwell, Texas helping care for her 3 younger brothers, learning to cook and sew, and helping in father's doctor's office. She loved to read and would read the encyclopedias for fun. She graduated as Valedictorian of Caldwell High School before attending The University of Texas at Austin.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was an active member of Central Christian Church, serving faithfully and leadership as Deacon and Elder Emeritus and singing in the choir. Also, a leader in Bible Study Fellowship (BSF).
Carolyn served others in countless ways throughout her life. She worked as a teacher, realtor, librarian, and mentor. Her career reflected her deep curiosity, compassion, and dedication to helping others grow and thrive, which also included each summer of her orchestrating the River Ranch Day Camp.
Gifted in both the arts and academics. She spoke French and had a lifelong love of music, playing the piano, accordion, and flute. Her creativity also shone through her intricate beading and jewelry-making.
Carolyn found joy in traveling, reading, gardening, and playing bridge, and in her later years delighted in card and board games. She was deeply involved in her community and volunteered her time and energy to numerous organizations.
Carolyn was truly a friend to all. Her life was a beautiful testament to faith, generosity, and the enduring power of love. She was always ready for the "Next Adventure."
Carolyn was blessed with a large and loving family survived by her children Dr. Roger L. Tolar Jr., (Kelly), Robert Jack Tolar (Debra), Anna Leigh Tolar Chauvin (Todd), and Timothy Dryden Tolar (Aimee), with 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren who brought her endless pride and joy.
