Bruce Ingram Obituary

July 31, 1930 - December 25, 2018
Bruce Monroe Gideon Ingram, beloved and cherished husband, father, grandfather and friend to many, passed away peacefully at his home in New Braunfels, Texas, early Christmas morning, Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at the age of 88, surrounded by his loving family.

Bruce Monroe Gideon, Jr. was born on July 31, 1930 in San Antonio, Texas to Mayme Glasscock and Bruce Monroe Gideon, Sr. After their passing in 1936, he and his younger brother, Robert Neal Gideon, were lovingly adopted by Callie Osborn and Ralph Morris Ingram, Sr. Bruce always treasured the acceptance and inclusion of the Osborn and Ingram extended families. He also held special remembrances of his Godfather, Mr. Milford Jacobs.
Bruce attended San Antonio Academy and graduated in 1948 from Texas Military Institute. He attended Texas A&M University for two years from 1948 until 1950. In 1951 he enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served in the Sea Bees from 1951 to 1955.

After working for his father at Hays County Gravel Company in San Marcos for two years, he decided to start his own business in March 1957. With one portable plant, two used trucks and one employee, he launched Ingram Portable Readymix Company. With God's blessings, Bruce's leadership and the support of his hard working, faithful employees, the company has grown over the past 61 years.

On August 9, 1958 he married Gloria Evans in San Antonio. They immediately moved to Dilley where Bruce had just received a contract to supply the concrete on the first phase of IH 35 beginning at Millett, Texas. In 1960 they moved to Pearsall and raised their family there until they relocated to San Marcos in 1970. After 34 years in San Marcos, Bruce and Gloria moved to their ranch in Comal County.

Bruce's greatest joys were spending time with his family, being at his ranch and being at work. When he was 38, he attained his private pilot's license which enabled him to fly for work and pleasure. By the time he retired from flying, he had over 6,000 hours of flight time.
Bruce served on the Texas Aggregates and Concrete Association Board of Directors and in 2004 was recognized with the Bob Beard Good Neighbor Award. He served on the South Texas Methodist Hospital Board of Trustees for eight years. Texas State University awarded him an Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree in December 2009.

Bruce was predeceased by his parents Callie (1997) and Ralph (1974) Ingram, his brothers, Robert Ingram (1996) and Rowland Ingram (1998).

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Ingram, and their four children and their spouses, Elizabeth Ingram (Brent) Tuttle, Bruce (Brandie) Ingram, Jr., Sue Ingram (Howard) Bushong and Earl (Christa) Ingram. He is also survived by his eleven grandchildren, Tanner (Karly) Kothmann, Derek (Lauren) Kothmann, Charles Will (Cami) Tuttle, Lauren Tuttle, Erica (John) Dirba, Alexandria Ingram, Rebecca Ingram, Justin (Kylene) Leinneweber, Lindsey (Eric) Bernhagen, Dan Ingram and Emma Ingram. Three step-Grandchildren--Tobin (Katie) Bushong, Brandon Fischer and Brady Fischer. There are 9 Great Grandchildren, Bella and Asher Kothmann, Thomas and Ben Kothmann, Logan Tuttle, Ellie and Kenna Dirba, Blakely and Brody Bernhagen. Also two step-Great Grand- children, Brooke and Carter Bushong. He is also survived by his brother, Ralph (Beatrice) Ingram, Jr. and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
