REMEMBERING BILLY
Tavalodet Mobarak! Felice Anniversario!
My Beloved Billy, birthday greetings in Farsi anniversary greetings in Italian, such were our celebrations. Excursions on the dinner train, boating on the lake, casual meals on the back deck as you taught me of white wings, Mexican doves, woodpeckers, blue jays and cardinals.
Smiling through tears, these memories sustain me. I still wear my rings; I loved them when first given; I still do. Friends called you a prince of a fellow, Mom called you muy buena gente, Miro just tugged at your sleeve--you understood, I called you Mi Querido Esposo. Some day we'll meet again. In your memory, I Soldier On, anonymously treating folks to meals as once we did. The shattered soul
smiles.
