We first met Carolyn, when she and Mayland, Cheryl & baby Daryl joined Marshall Baptist Church. Our lives intersected in many ways throughout the years. Carolyn, as well as Mayland ministered to our children as well as many many children as Sunday School teachers to children. Carolyn lauaghed a few weeks ago as I remembered to her that she had hosted a memorable hotdog supper for the teens of Marshall Baptist when Cheryl was in high school. She loved God and served His Church faithfully in the ways she felt led throughout the years.
We will miss this gallant lady who knew that she had finished the course that God had laid before her. Her testimony a few weeks ago was glorious...knowing of her imminent death, she proclaimed Jesus Christ as Lord, looking forward to being in His presence...and to being reunited with her precious husband and child already there...and knowing that her children and grandchildren would come along in their due time.
Our loving sympathy and prayers go to Cheryl and her family....and Daryl and his family. God is with you.

I have known Mayland and Carolyn since I was a teenager and they arrived at Lackland Baptist Church in the 1960's. Shortly afterward little Mark died unexpectedly, and then Cheryl and much later Darryl came into their lives. In later years Carolyn became my daughter's pre-K teacher at Marshall Baptist, and in the last couple of years, I often sat next to Carolyn when I would visit Village Parkway. The last time I saw her was just weeks ago, and I know Mayland's departure was still a tender thing to her. I'm so thankful that she's been reunited with her beloved husband and son while she awaits the arrival of the rest of the family in the Presence of our Savior, Jesus Christ. God bless all of you during this difficult time as you adjust to life without this sweet lady.
