Catalina (we knew her as Kate) and my mother Jean met as co-workers in a genetics lab at UT decades ago, quickly became good friends, and remained so. I remember her being at our house often and though I was just a child then, I remember very well her intelligence, her engaging & gentle personality, and especially her kindness. (My mother left this earth earlier this year or she would be writing her thoughts here, too.) Goodbye, Kate. We remember you with love.

I remember my Aunt Catalina very well. She always seemed to be visiting us as we traveled all over the United States. To me she was not your typical nun. She loved to rough house and had a mean baseball throw. She was sharp as a tack and so very loving and understanding. I will miss her dearly.

My Dearest Sister Catalina,
You were so caring and nurturing as we were growing up. You helped us get ready for church events, you helped us learn our prayers and how to love Our Lord. You helped us with our homework, and you helped us get ready for school. You showed your love for all of your siblings in these ways. I shall never forget how tenderly you would comb my hair and braid it for my days at school. Yes, you were so loving, kind and attentive to detail. How we shall all miss you. You left us with so many, many wonderful memories. It is now your turn to enjoy the rewards that you shared with so many! Love you Sis. Thanks for all those beautiful memories!

Our pilgrimage to Lourdes 4 years ago, to celebrate YOUR middle name "Lourdes" and to fulfill your life-long dream, was and will remain a highlight of my life. You are my most precious and beloved sister. We had great times together, as well as some heart wrenching times, but we were always loving sisters - giving each other strength, hope and abrazos. I shall miss you always, but know you are watching over me from heaven. Love you, my dearest sister. Ines

Sister Catalina was one of my first biology professors. She took a professional, nurturing interest in me. I ultimately chose medicine or later became an obstetrician. But, I would say that she was extremely helpful to me. ( I am now retired).
