Charles Franklin Obituary

Colonel Charles L. Franklin, Jr., US Army (Ret.) MSC, entered into rest January 15, 2003 in San Antonio at the age of 79. He was born May 25, 1923 in Providence, KY to Charles Lincoln Franklin Sr. and May Sue (King) Franklin. He served a very distinguished military career, where he received many citations, commendations and awards to include: Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, National Defense Service Medal with OLC, Army of Occupation Medal (Germany) WWII Victory Medal, and too many more to mention. He also taught medical service training at West Point Academy and served as a hospital administrator during his military career. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy Franklin; children, Kathie Franklin, William Franklin and wife Marilyn; grandchildren, Meredith Franklin and Brandon Franklin; sister, Mary Beth Slattery. Visitation: 2:00 - 4:00 P.M., Sunday, January 19, 2003 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Monday, January 20, 2003 at Sunset Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Visit us at www.mem.com. Sunset Funeral Home.
