Charles Moore Obituary

MOORE
On the evening of August 15, 2009, Retired MSGT Charles William Moore, Sr. (Charlie) gathered up the playing cards, neatly stacking them for the next game, tallied up the points, rose from his bed and started his journey to eternal happiness with the Lord. When he reached his final destination, he turned back to look at those he left behind, standing erect, heals touching and feet at a forty-five degree angle, his left elbow locked and arm extended down with his thumb neatly touching the pant seam. He then crisply rendered a hand salute with his right hand. Charlie may have lost his battle with cancer; but let it be known that he was a winner in the game of life. His memory will remain in the hearts and the minds of his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Nickie, and his sister Emma Quimby; children created by love: Charles Moore, Jr. and wife Deborah, Lauren Moos and husband John, Rebecca Derby and husband Brian, James Moore and wife Joy; children chosen through love: Richard and Cynthia Page, Joseph duMenil, Missy Van Hecke; grandchildren: Bonnie Peyton, Jeremy Morales, Kristie Benavidez, Ashley Moos, Jennifer duMenil, Jacob Derby, Jayci Derby, Joseph Moore, Brendon Moore, Brady Moore, James Weaver, Alan Russell, Lori Russell, Valerie Kewley, Nathan Young; great grandchildren: Kyra Peyton, Blaec William Peyton, Anna Morales, and his loving pets, Pebbles and Zorro.

Uncle Bill,
The love that you always showered upon all of us will be sadly missed. I know that you're enjoying your reunion with Mom and the other brothers and sisters that have gone before you. I will never forget your love, integrity, keen wit, and pride. Always proud that you were my uncle, you were the ultimate example of our great country and military. Rest in peace, and know that all of us will always love and be thinking of you. Oh, and let them win a hand now and then!

You will be dearly missed, although you were a recent addition to mine and Vincent's extended family. Enjoy rewards of Heaven as you deserve each and every one.

Charlie was a giver, not a taker. Being a disabled vet didn't slow him down. He helped numerous charity's. He was an advocate for our neighborhood & made delicious barbecue. We will miss his friendly smile & we send our love to Nickie. We feel blessed, to have known him.
