Cora L. Harper
February 13, 1929 - October 18, 2025
Cora Harper, born in Como, Mississippi and raised in Danville, Illinois, was a dedicated community volunteer and a respected professional. She attended multiple colleges, including Southern Illinois University, and graduated from Bramwell Business College and Highland Junior College. Sister Harper worked for Illinois Bell and retired as a manager from Southwestern Bell, now AT&T.
A passionate volunteer, she contributed to the Carver Community Cultural Center, the San Antonio Botanical Garden Society, and the University of Texas Institute of Texan Culture Outreach Program. Sister Harper received numerous accolades, including the JC Penney Community Volunteer Award in 1994 and recognition from the Salvation Army for her work with the "Dress the Doll" program. She was also honored as Volunteer of the Month at George Air Force Base in 1971.
A devoted member of Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church since 1971, she served in various leadership roles, including Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School director, and recording secretary.
Ms.Harper passed away on October 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and service. A viewing and funeral service will be held on October 30, 2025 beginning at 1 pm, at Sunset Funeral Home in San Antonio, Texas.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I worked with Cora back when she was a supervisor at SWBT. She was always so kind and thoughtful. I will keep her and her family in my prayers.

Cora Harper my God we worked togather & never mention we shared the same Birthday! She was a great mngr & i'm sure all her friends will miss her ! She has gain her wings!
