Daniel Diaz, Jr., 73, passed away in his sleep on May 31, 2021 at home in San Antonio, Texas following a two-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was preceded in death by his father Daniel and mother Trudy, and is survived by his wife Dorothy, his son David, his daughter Teresa and granddaughter Katarina.
Danny was born October 27, 1947 to Daniel Diaz and Minna Gertrud Reithberger in Giessen, Germany. He was raised among the extended Diaz family with roots as far back as we can trace in and around Del Rio, Texas. After graduating from Del Rio High School as valedictorian in 1966, Danny attended the University of Texas at Austin through the completion of his Juris Doctor in 1973. Following school, he moved to San Antonio and began practicing law with Plunkett, Gibson & Allen. He swept Dorothy Flagg off her feet, marrying her in 1979 and raising a loving family together. Through the very end, he took pride assisting his wife Dorothy (also an attorney) in legal work helping and representing children.
Danny never found a body of water he didn't want to fish in. He was a lifelong Spurs fan and lover of the blues. He will be remembered as a husband and father utterly devoted to caring for and encouraging the aspirations of his wife and children, for his love of all our furry friends, and for the unmistakable and absurd laugh he passed on to both his children.
A memorial celebration of Danny's life is planned for Monday, July 5 from 11am-2pm at Weathered Souls Brewery in San Antonio, Texas.
