GUARD
Guard, David S. 51, Mon. Feb. 4, 2013. Beloved husband and best friend of Elizabeth Guard (nee Bulte) for 25 years. Loving and very proud father of Mary Elizabeth "Meg" Guard. Dear son of Joyce (Harold) Schuetz and the late Joseph A. Guard. Dearest brother of Peter Guard, Anne (Robert) Kusmierczyk, James (Melanie) Guard, and Thomas (Carolyn) Guard. Loving and fun uncle of Catherine and Laura Kusmierczyk, Gabrielle, Mitchell and Natalie Guard, and Ryan and Jack Guard. Loving son-in-law of Mary Lou Bulte and Donald J. Bulte. Dear brother-in-law of Donald J. Bulte, II. David received his undergraduate degree at the University of Missouri, and his master's and law degrees from Washington University in St. Louis. David enjoyed his job and the people he worked with as an attorney at USAA in San Antonio. He had a passion for the outdoors, technology, cooking, photography, and spending time with his Great Danes, Lady Blue and Titan. David inspired with his wisdom, courage, and positive outlook. David was a friend to many and he will always be remembered for his sense of humor and fun-loving spirit. A life-long learner, David donated his body to the University of Texas Medical School. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations, in the memory of David, be made to The Colon Cancer Alliance, 1025 Vermont Ave. NW, Suite 1066, Washington, DC 20005, www.ccalliance.org. The family will greet guests at the Dominion Country Club, Saturday, February 9, 12:30-3:30pm. A Memorial Mass will be held in St. Louis in June.

I only met David a couple of times during our mutal association with AUSA and I was so sorry to learn of his death just this morning. What a kind, thoughtful, humorous soul he was. I am so sorry for your loss - a big one indeed.
