David Pipes Obituary

David Farrar Pipes died peacefully and went to be with his Lord on August 8, 2022, at the age of 61.

He was born February 3, 1961, in San Antonio. David was the son of Dr. William Farrar Pipes and Lucile Winerich Pipes.

He was a lifetime camper of Camp La Junta where he received the honor of being All Around Cowboy. David was an avid sports player and held the pole-vaulting record at Alamo Heights for many years. He also had a passion for motocross competition and surfing on the Texas coast. David was a graduate of Alamo Heights High School in 1979. He attended Southwestern University in Georgetown and received his degree in science from Southwest Texas State University in 1983.

David pursued a career in the field of science for the majority of his lifetime. David had a career that led him to the outdoors in the study of freshwater biology. He worked for the San Antonio River Authority, the Lower Colorado River Authority, he moved to Lincoln, Nebraska to work for Teledyne ISCO then Golden, Colorado to Geomation, Inc., a geotechnical control and measurement instrument and transmission company. While living in Colorado, David was a member of the Bailey, Colorado volunteer fire department, attended Platte Canyon Community Church and rode many mountain trails on his motorcycle.

David married Ruth A Cacek in October 2001 in Maui, Hawaii. They welcomed a son, William (Billy) Marion Pipes in August 2004. The pursuits of David and Ruth led them back to Odell, Nebraska where they made their home on the Cacek family farm. In 2010, David and Ruth purchased the Tiger's Den Restaurant and ran it for the next several years. While living in Odell, he worked for BSDC and served on the Odell, Nebraska volunteer fire department. David, Ruth, and Billy enjoyed hiking and camping in Colorado and Nebraska.
Preceding David in his death are his father, Dr. William Farrar Pipes; his two brothers, William (Billy) Winerich Pipes, and Robert (Bobby) Summers Pipes.

David is survived by his mother, Lucile Pipes; his son, Billy Pipes; his sister, Luci Pipes Bell and her husband, Seth, and their daughter Lucile; numerous cousins; and his former wife, Ruth Cacek. What a reunion David is having with his father and brothers.
