Debra "Debby" Lee Denman, a retired Harlandale ISD kindergarten teacher, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 11 after a long battle with diabetes and other health issues. Graveside services and interment for Debby will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 19 in Mission Burial Park South. Debby was born Aug. 19, 1953 to Roy Powell Denman and Kathleen Morgan Denman who preceded her in death. A 1971 graduate of Jefferson High School, Debby earned both bachelor and masters degrees in education from Sul Ross University which she attended in the years 1971 to 1978. Debby taught kindergarten and first grade in the Harlandale ISD from August 1975 until her retirement in October 2007. Debby is survived by her brothers Robert A. Denman, Jay P. Denman, and Lawrence Denman; her sister-in-law Carol Denman and niece Marilyn Denman. She also will be mourned by special longtime friends Becky Sonnen, Jenny Maun, Mrs. Eva Robertson and Terry Robertson. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the television ministry of First Baptist Church which Debbie watched each Sunday.
