Doris Pahl Obituary

Doris Kathleen Bindseil Pahl, 65, a retired San Antonio school teacher, devoted cat lover and ardent Spurs fan, died at her home Tuesday, September 13, after a long illness. Preceding her in death were her parents, Adolph and Helen Rompel Bindseil of Blanco. Born on Feb. 9, 1940 in New Braunfels, Doris Kathleen was raised in Blanco, graduated from Blanco High School and received a degree in home economics from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. While attending Southwest Texas, she was a majorette and marched in President Kennedy's inaugural parade. She taught in the public schools for 40 years, including 25 years as a science and special education teacher at Churchill High School in San Antonio. She was married to the late Neal Pahl. She touched the lives of many students, loved animals, and especially cats, and enjoyed gardening, working in her yard and watching the San Antonio Spurs. Survivors include her son, Lonea N. Pahl; a sister, Carolyn Bindseil Patterson and her husband, Mike; a brother, James Bindseil and his wife, Sandy, all of San Antonio; parents-in-law, Victor and Bess Pahl; a sister-in-law, Jane Pahl Nielsen and her husband, Sofus; a brother-in-law, Billy Pahl and his wife, Clarie, all of Fredericksburg; an aunt and uncle and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at Crofts Funeral Home, 911 Mesquite in Blanco. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 306 W. San Antonio St. in Fredericksburg. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Comal Cemetery in New Braunfels. Pallbearers will be Bo Bindseil, Mark Bindseil, Hugh Nielsen, Thomas Pahl, Jerry McHugh and Antony Turner. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
