Dorothy Steves Harwood Hindman passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2014 after living a rich, full life of 95 years. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and a loyal friend to many. Born in Corpus Christi, TX on July 28, 1918, to Carrie (Fink) and Edward M. Steves, she grew up in San Antonio where she graduated from Jefferson High School. She attended Arlington Hall in Virginia and Katherine Gibbs College in New York City. After returning to San Antonio, she met Loflin E. Harwood and they married in St. Mark's Episcopal Church in 1941. His career moved them to Dallas where they raised their two children and enjoyed 41 years together before his death in 1982. She later married Ben O. Hindman, an old friend from Jefferson High School. They enjoyed 17 happy years together much of it spent traveling. She served 40 years on the Alter Guild of St. Michael's and All Angels Episcopal Church and was an active member of the Junior League of Dallas and The Dallas Country Club. She moved to San Antonio in 2008 to be close to family and resided at The Forum at Lincoln Heights. She spent her time at the Forum playing bridge, reuniting with old childhood friends and made many new friends. She was gracious to all people throughout her entire life. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two wonderful husbands, her sister, Johanna Belle Steves Ansley; and brother, Edward Steves; and son-in-law, Logan Peterson Huntress. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Harwood Huntress; her son, Edward Steves Harwood of Fort Worth; her step-daughter Garda Hindman Boswell and husband, John, along with grandchildren: Logan Peterson Huntress, Jr., Dorothy Huntress Cooper and husband Doug, Harwood Steves Huntress, all of San Antonio; Kathryn Ann Harwood and Elizabeth Steves Harwood of Austin; and Gigi Rowe and husband Tazewell of New York; her adored great-grandchildren Peterson, Flin, and Adelaide Cooper and Whitman Rowe. The family is especially grateful for the love and care given to her by all the staff at The Forum at Lincoln Heights.
