Earl Kierstead Obituary

KIERSTEAD
Earl (Joe) Kierstead passed away quietly at his home on September 9, 2009 after a prolonged illness. He was surrounded by those whom he loved most, his family. Born in Indiana, July 13, 1947, raised in Tennessee with his 3 brothers, Carl, Jerry, Mike, and sister, Patty, Joe moved to the San Antonio area after serving his country in Vietnam. He became a firefighter and later a paramedic for the SAFD, retiring in 1985. Serving his community continued as an enterprising San Antonio business man as owner of Alamo and Snow's Auto Title Services. He loved his communities of Atascosa and San Antonio and generously supported them as a member of many community organizations including ESD #5, Atascosa Rural Water Corp., 100 Club, SA Fire Fighters Motorcycle Club, and West Side Chamber of Commerce. Joe was a devoted family man, as a much loved husband of 25 years, to Lori, a loving father of 4 children, Tyler, Rudy, Melissa, and Paul, and a doting grandpa to Jennifer, Jeremy, Tiffani, Andrew, and Alyssa. He was also a beloved brother, brother-in-law, son, son-in-law, uncle, and cousin. Joe had a zest for life and lived a life filled with many joy-filled experiences. He pursued new adventures, many on his Harley with his son, Tyler, wife, Lori, and good friends. He was a supporter of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, rode with the U.S. Marshals' Posse and Palomino Patrol for a time, and even tried stock car racing. He had many interests and enjoyed gambling excursions, boating, fishing, hunting, and celebrating life. He was lucky in love and life. He will be missed by many.
