Edith (Edie) Golden Hackler Tulloss passed away peacefully on August 18, 2022 at the age of 90. She was born August 31, 1931 in Clinton, Oklahoma to Arthur Loyd and Golden Demory Hackler. Edie married the love of her life, M/Sgt. Robert (Bob) Tulloss, on January 4, 1952 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; they were married for 55 years. She was a wonderful, generous mother to her only child, Brett Tulloss, who passed away on August 21, 2022.
Edie and Bob had the opportunity to live in Japan during an early part of Bob's military career. They moved to Universal City in 1960 when Bob was transferred to Randolph Airforce Base. Their son Brett was born in 1964, he was subsequently diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy. Edie organized military wives for round the clock "patterning" to develop Brett's muscles resulting in Brett exceeding medical predictions, permitting him to lead a relatively normal life. Such was her love for her son.
Edie worked at the Randolph Air Force Base Officers' Club from 1970 to 1989, most of those years as the Catering Manager. In retirement, Edie and Bob enjoyed traveling with friends. Full of life and always flashing a beautiful smile on her face, Edie was a magnet drawing a wide variety of friends. She loved her family and many friends with whom she stayed in touch throughout the years. Edie loved her church and the church family; she was a dedicated Christian, an anchor for the church choir. Edie volunteered at many local charities including the Greater Randolph Area Services Program (GRASP) thrift store, the Randolph Christian Assistance Program (RACAP) Food Pantry and raised money for
The Muscular Dystrophy Association. Edie thrived on an active social life, participating in activities including the Ladies Red Hat Club, her local bowling team - the Out to Lunch Bunch, and any other group that involved people who loved life as much as she did.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Edie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Tulloss, father (Arthur Loyd Hackler), mother (Golden Demory Hackler); brothers/sisters: Lee Hackler Speary, Lawrence Hackler, Glen Hackler, Loyd Hackler, Frank Hackler, Art Hackler, and Maxine Hackler Messina.
Special thanks to George Atkinson, retired Marine Colonel, Tulloss family friend and the definition of service to his fellow Americans, and Serenity Oaks Memory Care for special care of Edie over these past few years.
