Edward Fahey Obituary

FAHEY
Edward P. Fahey passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday January 12, 2014 just shy of his 91-st birthday. A resident of San Antonio since 1948, Ed practiced law for over forty years. He is preceded in death by his loving wife and companion of 44 years, Mary R. Francis, who passed in 2007. Mary and Ed are together again-forever! Two sons survive Mr. Fahey. Ed Jr. (Delia) of Laredo, and Patrick (Julianna) of Austin, two grandsons, Justin Edward and Kyle Patrick. His sibling survivors include: Richard A. Fahey, Dorothea Jones and Robert John Fahey. Ed was born March 28, 1923 in Galveston. He served in the South Pacific and was honorably discharged in1946. Afterwards, he enrolled at St. Edwards Univ. in Austin, later transferring to St. Mary's Law School. Ed was a founding member of the Tarlton Inn of the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity. He received the LL.B. with honors in 1951. For the next forty years, Mr. Fahey was a trial lawyer in San Antonio, practicing in the area of insurance defense. He was a founding member of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel (1963); elected to the Federation of Insurance and Corporate Counsel (1964); and elected to the American College of Trial Lawyers (1978) and licensed to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. Besides lawyering, Ed enjoyed playing tennis and listening to the Happy Jazz Band on the Riverwalk. He and Mary summered on the lakes of Wisconsin boating & fishing. After retiring in 1991, Ed researched and wrote a family genealogy, tracing his ancestry back to County Tipperary, Ireland and the province of Hess-Nassau, Germany. He also enjoyed stamp & coin collecting. Visitation will be held on Friday Jan 17 from 10-AM until 12-N. at Mission Park North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Dr. 78230 / (210) 349-1414. I worked with Mr. Fahey for many years at Groce, Lock & Hebdon, he was a wonderful man. My prayers are with his family.
