I've known my cousin, Eddie all my life, he was the FIRST grandchild from the family of Tomas and Juanita Martinez. His dad and my mom were brother and sister. So, by the time I came around, Eddie was 7 years old...and I always saw him as a "big brother". We never really hanged out together, but I always admired him, and all of his accomplishments!
And as we grew older, I appreciated him calling me occasionally, just to check up on how I was doing, because I live alone.
I'll miss those phone calls, and miss meeting at NICHA'S on 410, for lunch with him, and his brother, Rudy and Liz.
To know he is no longer suffering is what keeps me content. He was loved by many, and admired as well.
He'll be missed by many, but always have a special place in our hearts.
My condolences go out to Margie, his wife, and his brothers, Rudy, Tom and Paul... along with all the other cousins and family members.
God bless his soul..and may he rest in eternal peace.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Ed Martinez. Ed and Margie have been a part of our lives for over 20 years. He enjoyed food, music, drink and most of all, spending time with his family and friends. Ed amazed us with his ability to eat tamales, barbacoa, and pizza, yet was able to maintain a good cholesterol level! Ed would speak about his excursions to Penners and introducing his grandson to their clothing. He enjoyed wearing his guayaberas and Penners jeans.
Ed was full of life. His wit and storytelling were legendary. His soul was full of a caring, loving, nurturing and mindful spirit. He had a memorable smile, laugh, and twinkle in his eye. His impact on people was expansive because of his desire to connect with everyone. He was always ready to help someone in need. Ed served his country proudly as a member of the armed forces. He continued service to his country as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service and always sought to take care of his customer base. He will truly be missed.
Margie, our deepest condolences on the loss of your partner, lover, friend and soulmate of over 20 years.
