Estefana "Stephanie" Ortiz Ramirez entered eternal rest on November 8, 2021, at the age of 74. She was born April 16, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas, to Manuel and Maria Ortiz. She married her sweetheart, Reynaldo Ramirez, in September of 1974, a marriage lasting forty-seven years.
Estefana is preceded in death by Manuel Ortiz(father) and Maria Sanchez Ortiz (mother), brothers Alfredo "Freddie," and Ricardo "Ricco" Ortiz, and grandson Aiden Balderrama. Estefana is survived by her husband, Reynaldo Ramirez, daughters, Michelle Martinez and Monica Balderrama, sons-in-law, Adrian Balderrama and Hector Martinez, sisters, Delia Coronado, Olga Betancourt, and Aurora "Gori" Ortiz and brothers Manuel Ortiz and Jesus "Chuy" Ortiz; grandchildren Adrian, Alyssa, Alex, Isaiah, Caleb, and Gabriella and her many nephews and nieces.
Estefana studied to become a licensed vocational nurse working in hospitals, nursing homes and with home health care. She spent twenty-five years providing nursing services to the elderly and physically challenged. In her younger years she often participated in marathons, 5Ks, and 10Ks. Estefana had a deep love for art. Her hands were rarely still. One of her favorite pastimes was spending time in her studio creating spiritual art pieces for herself, family, and sold some at local markets and church festivals. She often showed her own artwork at various venues in San Antonio. She shared her love for art with her daughters and grandchildren, often taking them to art exhibits, museums, and plays.
Estefana always provided support and love for her family. She dedicated her time to school activities as a girl scout troop leader, and PTC volunteer. Estefana was a devoted catholic, volunteering her time as a eucharistic minister to the home bound and at church with St. Vincent de Paul and served as a member and president of the Legion of Mary. Her daily ritual included reciting the rosary, watching daily mass, and reading her Magnificat.
Estefana was selfless and always put others first. Her caring spirit and generous heart could be felt by anyone, especially by her grandchildren. She looked after all her grandchildren at early
ages. You often found her crawling on the floor, painting, attending concerts, games, and other school events. She always looked forward to spending time with all her grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to all those who have extended prayers and condolences. She will be forever missed and remembered by all those that knew and loved her dearly.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. at Castle Ridge Mortuary 8008 Military Drive West San Antonio, Texas 78227. A Final Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at Castle Ridge Mortuary with a Funeral Mass to follow at 12:00 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi Marian.
