Eula Robinson Obituary

Eula Lee Robinson, Cherokee Indian, born in Eucha, OK on September 4, 1916 to Ninnie Mea O'Field and Robert Lee Williams, passed away on October 2, 2003 at the age of 87. She is survived by her two sons and two daughters, Les McLendon, James Loy Yacyna, Betty Crowsha and Trudy Crumb; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, plus their spouses, nine great-great-grandchildren; sister, Juanita Leach and her 10 children, and all their children. She will be missed by all her family and all others that have had the pleasure of meeting her. My grandmother was never famous nor did she want to be, but to all of us she was. She told me once that she had no regrets and her biggest accomplishment in life was her family. If you ever had the honor of meeting her then she touched you also and you would always remember her. Never did she have an ugly thing to say about anyone. She was taken away from her family at a young age and put in a boarding school for Indian children, never being allowed to speak her own language again. She learned how to read and write hiding under a staircase, trying not to be seen reading her little books. After years of being there, she started her own family. She took care of five children during World War II and all of us thereafter. She lost one son, Bonner McLendon in 1946 and one daughter, Corinne Kane in 1989 and two sons-in-law. She never stopped looking on the bright side of life. She was a remarkable woman. We would have loved for her to stay with us, but it was time for her to go. 'I know we will all see you again, so until then, we miss you and we love you.' Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, October 6, 2003 at Sunset Memorial Park. Services entrusted to Dellcrest Funeral Home.
