George Farias
December 13, 1938 - October 19, 2025
George Farias lived a life marked by ceaseless love, devotion to family, eternal optimism and unwavering faith in God. He was born in San Antonio to Anastacio "Stacey" Farias and Isidra Martinez.
He was former executive director of the Bexar County Mental Health Mental Retardation Center (now Center for Health Care Services) and was active in Hispanic genealogy and historical research. Among his proudest accomplishments was the publication of his book, The Farias Chronicles, in 1995 on the history of his family.
George is survived and missed by his loving wife of over 65 years, Mary Helen Lozano, and children, George Jr. (Susie), Michael Anthony (Maritza), Diane Elizabeth, Cynthia Grace (Brett) Bryant, Thomas Christopher (Michelle), Richard Henry (Adam) and remembered fondly by his seven grandchildren, Lauren A. and Taylor A. Bryant, Sara A. Farias, Cameron J. Farias, Kendall S. Farias, Frieda M. Farias, Thomas M. Farias, great granddaughter EmberRay Barrera, siblings Frank (Dottie), David (Lori), Marie Rollin, sister-in-law Marie, and numerous nephews, nieces, and step grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Christopher and Jose, and siblings-in-law Shirley and Michael.
He was laid to rest in a private service at San Fernando Cemetery #2.
