Grace Smith Obituary

Grace Louise (Sczypanik) Smith
August 13, 1935 - January 18, 2025
Grace Louise (Sczypanik) Smith passed peacefully on January 18, 2025. She was born on August 13, 1935 on the family farm in Falls City, Texas to Emeryk and Otillia (Mzyk) Sczypanik.
Grace was raised and attended school in Falls City. After graduating high school her and her sister Elizabeth moved to San Antonio and had their first apartment together. She met and married Harold Smith, an S.A.P.D. officer. Grace found herself divorced but was a strong woman and a devoted catholic, who was able to lean on her faith and support herself very well. Grace had a long duration of employment at Security National Bank as loan officer, which she enjoyed and loved what she did. She then worked at QVC until finally retiring in 2012. She loved to travel with friends or by herself, making several trips to California, Mexico, Las Vegas, Tahoe, and even took a cruise. Throughout her life she was a loving and supportive daughter, sister, sister-in-law, and aunt. Grace made her home at New Haven Assisted Living and Memory Care in Floresville for the past year of her life. The staff became an important part of her life, and we are so grateful for the love and care they gave our aunt.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Emeryk and Otillia Sczypanik; brother, Louis Francis (died in infancy); sister, Edith Marie (died in infancy); brother-n-law, John C. Moss; niece, Cynthia Louise (Moss) Bernal; and sister, Elizabeth Ann (Sczypanik) Moss.
Grace is survived by nieces, Deborah Ann (Moss) and husband Alan Anton Sekula, Rebecca Lynn (Moss) Williams, and Kathleen (Moss) and husband Sean Montgomery Phillips; nephew, John Clinton Moss Jr. and wife Jennifer (Serna) Moss; great niece, Lisa (Sekula) Ataee and husband Christopher Ataee; great nephews, Franklin Leroy Schmidt III and wife Michelle (Hernandez) Schmidt, Alan Anton Sekula Jr, Michael John Sekula, Hudson Aaron Moss, and Jack Harrison Moss; great great nieces, Katherine Ataee, Aleanna (Schmidt) Rivera and husband Christopher Rivera, Sadie (Schmidt) and Jerry Saenz, Bella (Schmidt) and Bishop Gonzalez, and Keeley Sekula; great great nephew, Christopher Ataee Jr, James Ataee, Bryce Schmidt, Josh Ataee; great great great niece, Sylvia Saenz; and great great great nephew, Phineas Gonzalez.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 11:00 a.m. with the Funeral Mass to follow at 11:30 a.m. also at the Church. Burial will follow at the Falls City Cemetery. A reception will be held after the graveside services.
Serving as pallbearers will be Alan Sekula Jr., Christopher Ataee Sr., Christopher Ataee Jr., Bryce Schmidt, James Ataee, Josh Ataee, Hudson Moss, and Jack Moss.

Gracie hired me at Security National bank. I met my husband there so without Gracie I would not have had the wonderful life I had with my husband. As years continued we stayed as friends. Always kind and pleasant. God Bless her!
