I still cannot believe this has happened. I am so sorry for your loss. My deepest sympathy to his wife, daughter, family and everyone who knew him. Years ago I attended his daughter's 15th (maybe 16th debut) celebration dance. It was the most beautiful celebration I had ever attended where the debutants were escorted by their father, step-father, or grandfather. It was the most such beautiful site to see them dance. The joy in his eyes dancing with his daughter and wife I will never forget. At the time I didn't realize he was the same bus driver that would drive us back and forth from BAMC to WHMC. The following week when I stepped into the bus I realize it was him. He always had a great smile with a warm and sincere greeting, a caring heart and helpful to everyone. He would always be listening to his Tejano and oldies music. I told him I knew he had to be from Corpus Christi because Corpus Christi and people from the coast are the best dancers. He smiled, laughed and agreed with me. He loved his family so much. RIP.

I was in disbelief when I heard about Mr. Willie. I first met Mr. Willie when I started working at BAMC. He was the first bus driver I met and he was very nice. One time we talked about basketball and asked who was my favorite basketball player and I replied Charles Barkley. His reply was "old school". I thought it was funny and I laughed and he said that is alright we are old school. I remember him talking about his family a lot and always said hi when I saw him or he waved if he was driving the shuttle bus. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
He will be missed. RIP Mr. Willie.

I knew Willie well as a shuttle driver from Ponderosa to BAMC. He always talked about his family and several years ago shared pictures about his daughter's quincenera (15). He was so admirable and family-loving. He spoke and showed me pictures of his family and glowed as he spoke of them. Willie had a smile and a persona unique to a man of service and God-loving. This is too sad. My deepest condolences to his beloved family. God Bless You all...this is very tough for all that knew him! Sincerely, COL "T"

January 10, 2013

My deepest and most sincerest condolences to Willie's wonderful family. He was our shuttle driver to and from BAMC and Wilford Hall, and there was never a day that he looked sad or unhappy, and therefore that joyful spirit of his always made me and the others feel so happy and always put a smile on our face! Another thing that stands out about Willie is that he always said "God bless you" to us all when we got off the bus, and that truly made a world of a difference to me! May our God give you all the comfort, peace and strength you need in these difficult moments, and of course, my prayers for all of you! He will truly be missed.

God bless you!
