Harold Hilley Obituary

Harold McFee Hilley born November 6, 1920 in Casey Springs, Georgia went to be with the Lord on October 2, 2007 at the age of 86. He joined the Navy in 1941 and retired after 22 years of service as a Chief Petty Officer. He began his next career with Civil Service and retired again after 12 years. Never one to sit around, he started Del Hi Carpets with his best friend Rusty Nordell, and after 15 years, he decided to dedicate himself to being a part time rancher on his Beeville Ranch. In 2004 he moved from Corpus Christi to be with his family in San Antonio. He resided at Independence Hill Retirement Community, where he made many new and wonderful friends. Harold was married to Mary Elizabeth Hilley for 45 wonderful years until her death in 1990. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Van and Connie Hilley, one granddaughter and her husband Kara and Chad Mowrey, one grandson and his fiancé Derek Hilley and Jennifer Campos, one great-granddaughter Mackenzie Mowrey, one sister Agnes Headrick, one brother Carl Hilley, as well as many friends in Corpus Christi and San Antonio. The family would like to thank those who cared for our dad: Dr. Jose Salinas, the nurses at North Central Baptist Hospital, and the nurses at Vitas, as well as our extended family and friends who lifted us up in prayer. The services will be held at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel at 4357 Ocean Drive, Corpus Christi, Texas 78412 on Friday, October 5, 2007 at 11:00a.m. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park. He will be missed, but as he always said to us, Wish and hope for the best. SEASIDE FUNERAL HOME Corpus Christi, TX 78412 (361) 992-9411

My thoughts, wishes and prayers go out to Mr. Hilley's family. Though I never met him, his son,Van has been my friend and mentor for years. Boys learn how to be men from their fathers and knowing what a great man Van is, it is obvious what a great man Mr. Hilley must have been.

Van, Connie, and Family,
I just wanted you to know that you are and have been in our thoughts and prayers. We are so sorry for your loss but share in your joy that he is in a much better place along with his friends and family that went before him. Harold will be missed dearly especially by Agnes. I always loved his wonderful smile and giving spirit. I feel truly honored to have known him. We love you all.
