Helen Skeldon Obituary

Helen Margaret Skeldon
February 23, 2024
Helen Margaret Skeldon went peacefully to the stars on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 89. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, she traveled with her military family for much of her childhood. Helen graduated from Providence High School in San Antonio and then married and raised her family. With a passion for math and numbers, Helen traded stocks on the NY Stock Exchange in her early years before her children. Then, in 1984, Helen saw how computers would change the workflow of businesses. At 50 years old, she built her first Zenith computer. She formed her computer consulting company and shared her passion with her two sons. Her career mission was to show companies how computers and programs could enhance the organization's productivity. She was one of the first non-attorneys to lecture at the State Bar of Texas on WordPerfect and how this word-processing program could make an attorney's work more streamlined and manageable. Her favorite venture came even later when she began editorial work. Helen was a sought-after editor for countless projects, including several books for a local art historian and Ph.D. candidates from psychology, nursing, and social work. Her hobbies included reading, sewing, needlepoint, traveling, entertaining family, and, most importantly, creating family memories and traditions for a lifetime. She was the daughter of Col. John R. USAF (Ret.) and Elsie Laura Schilo Skeldon preceded her in death. Her siblings, John R. (Jack) Skeldon, Jr., Michael J. Skeldon, Delana Skeldon Breece, and Laura Ann Skeldon, also preceded her in death. Her beloved brother, Timothy Terrance Skeldon, and wife, Sherry, survive her. She was a loving mother of Delana Helen Coyle, James Edward Coyle, Jr. (preceded in death), Richard Miles Coyle and wife Adrianna, and John Skeldon Coyle and wife Bonie, with nine grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Many years ago, Celeste Scalise-Qubrosi who was an attorney with the old Heard Goggan Blair & Williams firm introduced me to a brilliant lady who was retiring from the firm that day. That lady was Helen, truly a computer genius. She and I became close friends, as did our families. I had several birthday parties for her (at The Barn Door Restaurant of course), she was ever present during Ray´s illness, and her computer expertise saved my sanity on more than one occasion. I very painfully but very lovingly say goodbye to my beloved friend, Helen Skeldon. Helen was deeply loved by many, respected by all. Below is one of my favorite photos. Rest in peace my beloved friend.
