Irmgard Gebhard York

Irmgard Gebhard York, 76, born August 9, 1940 in Nurnberg, Germany went to be with our Lord and Savior on September 23, 2016. She is survived by her sons, Joseph E. York IV and spouse Paula of Blanco, TX; Frank York of San Antonio, John York and wife Emily of Water Valley, TX; her daughters-in-law & grandchildren, Joseph E York V & wife Laura, Jared York and their mother Annette York; Matthew, Mark, Gabi & Madi Alcala and their mother Paula; Kade & Adeline York and their mother Emily; sisters, Ottilie and husband Paul Schimanski, Luise and husband Lothar Scheiderer, Margot and husband Karl Jilek; and brother, Hans Neumann and spouse Marianna Schötz, and brother, Heinrich Neumann all of Germany; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Irma was preceded in death by her parents Luise Neumann & Willi Gebhard, her loving husband, Joseph E York III, & daughter Irmgard Mae York.
Irma came to the United States as a newlywed in 1959 and began her life in the United States. She was a loving wife, mother and Oma, while loving to spend time with her family. She took care of her husband Joseph and daughter Mae as their health began to deteriorate. She was always there to take care of her family and others, always putting herself last. She worked most of her career as a switchboard operator along with being a housewife. She was a military wife that spent as many as 18 months at a time alone to work and take care of her family, while her husband, Joseph, served in the United States Air Force traveling on many tours and missions, including the Vietnam War while serving and protecting our country.

Irma was loved by all that knew her and will be remembered and missed dearly.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2016 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Services will also be held at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South in San Antonio on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 1:00 PM.
