Our beautiful Mother and Grandmother, Isabel S. Wong was born November 18, 1931 and entered the Kingdom of God on Saturday October 29, 2022; she was 90 yrs. young.
She was and always will be so very loved by all her family. As our mother left this world, she was surrounded with much love and prayers from her children. Her passing was a gentle and peaceful one.
Isabel had a delightful, joyous, kind and loving personality that drew everyone she knew close to her.
She had a slightly mischievous sense of humor that made her so much fun to be with. Her kitchen table became a gathering place full of laughter, fun and even many a therapy session for family and friends; and of course, there was always coffee and pan dulce. She was an amazing cook; her kitchen was always filled with savory aromas of whatever she was cooking. No one ever entered her home with out being offered something delicious to eat. She was a devoted wife and mother, an especially fun grandmother that was adored by all her grandchildren. She took such good care of most of her grandchildren at one time or another, and that helped to develop strong bonds between them.
She had several cats that she loved as well. She had such a big, loving heart that drew not only people to her but animals as well, cats were her favorite.
Isabel married the love of her life, Samuel Wong on March 24,1951 and they had 3 loving children, Sam Wong Jr., Richard Wong, and Elizabeth (Lisa) Wong. She was a devoted wife and mother, always very supportive and involved in their lives. When her daughter Lisa opened a small Mexican restaurant after graduating from high school, Mom jumped right in to work side by side with her. She was very supportive of her daughter's endeavor in becoming a successful restaurant business owner and a respected business woman. Mom loved working at the restaurant (Lisa's Mexican Restaurant) and reveled in learning and doing whatever job needed to be done, but her favorite job was working the drive-thru window. She enjoyed meeting and having short conversations with her customers at the window. She would leave a great impression on so many that we would hear such heart felt stories from customers she helped, after she had retired. The most memorable were of people that would come by the window and only ask for one taco, Mom would immediately give them more food than they ordered and tell them it was on her. She was always a very kind and generous person, a legacy that she has left for all of us, her family, to live up to. Mom created such a fun atmosphere while working in the restaurant kitchen; there was always laughter and hard work going on when she was around.
Isabel was preceded in death by her loving parents, Valda Guadalupe and Luisa Sanchez; her husband, Samuel Wong, her son Sam Wong Jr. and all her siblings: Ramon Sanchez (Mary), Luis Sanchez (Carolina), Joaquin Sanchez (Doris), Guadalupe Contreras (Manuel), and Alfonso Sanchez.
She is survived by her son, Richard Wong, Elizabeth (Lisa) Wong; daughters in-law: Diane Wong, Bonnie Garcia and Janie Montemayor; her grandchildren: Jenny Wong, Michelle W.
