J. Ann (Richardson) Bauerkemper

J. Ann was born April 19, 1935, in Fairfield, TX to Annigene (Childs) Richardson and J.C. Richardson. She grew up in the countryside near Fairfield in a house her dad built. J. Ann was an active member in her church. During her high school years, she was on the majorette squad and sang in the church choir and the school chorus. She had a beautiful voice and was often asked to sing at special events. Her real talent was drawing and painting. She was an amazing artist starting at the age of 12, her love of drawing and painting was seen as she completed many works of art. One of her first works of art was a small painting of her Lord Jesus Christ. At one point in her life, she became a member of the National Society of Tole and Decorative Painters, and one of her painted Christmas ornaments was chosen and displayed by the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History and it remains there today!
She married William (Bill) Henry Bauerkemper, Jr. in 1954 and she and Bill had three children. Eventually they moved to East Point, GA, where she raised her children and managed her own art and framing business. Her loving and nurturing nature was evident in her love of helping and caring for animals, especially her dogs named Tex, Wolf and Shotzi. She, Bill and the children were members of Our Savior Lutheran Church in College Park, GA. After moving to San Antonio, TX in 1977, they became members at Abiding Presence Lutheran Church. She loved the Lord even though later in life she was not able to attend church services; she always loved to tell her family about the sermons and music she had watched each Sunday morning on television.
Survivors include her three children, Bill III, Matt and Anilisa (Boo), six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday, October 26th at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 N. Loop 1604 E., San Antonio, TX 78232
FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 am on Monday, October 27th
Abiding Presence Lutheran Church, 14700 San Pedro Ave. San Antonio, TX 78232
A reception will follow services at the church, and a funeral procession will depart Abiding Presence for Ft. Sam Houston National cemetery where a committal service will begin at 1:45 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Society, any Humane Society or to the charity of your choice in Memory of J. Ann Bauerkemper.
