James Copeland Obituary

November 18, 1937 - February 13, 2016
James R. Copeland loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather passed away peacefully on Saturday February 13, 2016 at the age of 78. James was born November 18, 1937 in San Antonio, Texas to parents Herbert and Evelyn Copeland. James was employed with Luby's for 32 years and was a strong supporter of the Windcrest Fire Dept. James was also involved with the Classic Thunderbird Club for several years and enjoyed hunting and was an avid Spurs fan. James was preceded in death by his parents. James is survived by his loving wife Carrie Copeland, ex -wife Barbara E. Copeland brother Jack Copeland (Dora) sons Jim Copeland Jr. (Michelle), Mark A. Copeland (Noemi) daughter Leigh-Ann Shrum (Jeff) son George Arriaga (Linda) and daughter Sandra Castellon (Robert). James is also survived by 12 Grandchildren, 13 Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great Great -Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim loved his family and was so proud of all his children and grandchildren. One of his greatest joys was attending his grandchildren's sports activities. As Jim would say "Glad you got to see me". Pallbearers will be Chuck Arriaga, Omar Mendoza, Gabriel Garcia, Christopher Copeland, Mason Shrum and Jacob Copeland. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kody Copeland, Omar Mendoza III, Mark Martinez and Matthew Martinez . Visitation will take place at Sunset Funeral Home Wednesday February 17, 2016 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will begin at 12:00pm Thursday February 18, 2016 at St. Peter Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church 111 Barilla San Antonio, Texas 78209. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Santa Rosa Children's Hospital. To offer your condolences you may log on to www.sunsetfuneralhomesa.com.
