James Harris Obituary

James R. (Jim) Harris, USAF (Ret.), age 75, passed away August 21, 2001. He was born in Woodbury, TN on October 13, 1925. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Edys Harris, who passed away in 1997. Jim and Edys were married for 49 years at the time of her passing. Jim served his country and was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. In Korea, he served with the Mosquito Squadron and enjoyed attending reunions each year. During his tour of duty in Vietnam, he was wounded and received the Purple Heart and Silver Cross with a 'V' device for valor for meritorious service. Jim retired from the Air Force after 22 years of service and took a position as Manager of State circulation for the San Antonio Express News where he worked for 25 years until his retirement in 1992. Jim is survived by his daughter, Marcia Lynn Harris of La Porte, TX; his brother, Charlie Harris of Auburntown, TN; numerous nieces and nephews. After his retirement, Jim's passion became golf. His laugh and joy in living will be missed by his family and numerous friends. SERVICES The family will receive visitors on Thursday, August 23, 2001 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Mission Park North. Graveside Services, with Military Honors, will be held Friday, August 24, 2001 at 10:00 A.M. in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Memorial Services will also be held on Friday at 11:30 A.M. at Forest Hills Presbyterian Church. Rev. Robert Redman will officiate at all Services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Forest Hills Presbyterian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 257, Helotes, TX 78023. Mission Park Funeral Homes North.
