Jeannette Wright Obituary

Jeannette Marie (Pfeil) Wright, 93, went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2023. She was born June 18, 1930 in San Antonio and graduated from Breckenridge H.S. in 1948. After college, Jeannette worked as a certified dental assistant. On December 15, 1951 she married her high school sweetheart, John Charles Wright in Phoenix, AZ. The same day, John was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the USAF. They were married for 64 years.
John's military career meant leaving their beloved San Antonio and traveling to many places in the US, and overseas to Okinawa, Japan. Jeannette was involved in many organizations throughout her life including hospital volunteer work, the American Red Cross, the Boy Scouts of America (as a den mother), and pro-life pregnancy centers. While John taught JROTC at Cooper H.S. in Abilene, TX, he and Jeannette opened up their home to conduct a high school bible study program. This group was for students yearning to learn more about Jesus Christ.
Jeannette was preceded in death by her husband, Col. USAF, (Ret.) John Wright, her sister, Julia (Pfeil) Doolitte, and her parents, August and Hilda (Stolte) Pfeil. She is survived by her son, Jack and wife, Bonnie, (San Antonio); daughter, Jan Dotzler and husband, Ray, (Omaha, NE); son CDR, USNR, (Ret.) James and wife, Joy, (Greensboro, GA); son, Lt. Col. USAF (Ret.) Joel and wife, Dawn, (Peacham, VT). Her grandchildren, Sarah (Wright) Samii and husband, Matthew; John Charles Wright II, and wife, Natalie; Jeffrey Wright and wife, Bianca; Brandon Dotzler and wife, Dana; Stephanie Dotzler; Jenna (Wright) Ritter and husband, Christopher; Jordan Wright and wife, Jacqueline; Tyler Wright and Garrett Wright. Her great-granddaughters Scarlett, Sophie, Maggie Samii and Genevieve (Georgie) Wright.
Graveside funeral service is on July 13, at 10am and will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Shelter #4, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, TX 78209. In lieu of flowers, people can make a contribution in memory of Jeannette Wright to the South Texas Pregnancy Care Center, P.O. Box 1962, Seguin, TX, 78156.
