Joaquin Mireles, born January 22, 1963, went home to be with Our Lord on Sunday, August 29, 2021, at the age of 58. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Carmen Mireles. Joaquin is survived by his son, Joshua, his brothers, and sisters: Jesus Alfredo (Janie), Maria Elena Cardenas (Jesse), Maria Dolores Marek (Christopher), Teresa Rosales (Robert), Gerardo (Diana), David (Brenda), Jorge, Carmen Delia Reyher (Kevin), Lupe, Beatrice and numerous nephews and nieces and other extended family members. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Joaquin was a devoted, dedicated, and loving father to his son Joshua. Joaquin was a pious and practicing Catholic committed to his faith. He had a devotion to the Blessed Virgen Mary, and was always praying his Rosary; and he would often make time for adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. He enjoyed praying and meditating at Oblate grounds. He was involved with the church by being an Altar Server when he was young, volunteering as an instructor for religion, helped at church festivals, was a member of a men's prayer group, a member of a Catholic Singles Group and attended the ACTS Retreat.
He was proud to be a graduate from Thomas Jefferson High School (1981) at which he was a member of the Senate Club, History Club, and Debate Team. He attended St. Mary's University with a degree in Education and a minor in History. Joaquin worked for USAA, Galen Institute, and was presently employed by the Goodwill Industries as a Job Placement Coordinator.

Our Saturday men´s scripture study group was blessed by Joaquin´s presence. He always had something insightful to say. In our closing prayers he never failed to pray for Joshua.
